City Water Distribution crews plan to complete the task of flushing hydrants in eight neighborhoods and is expected to be completed by Friday, October 13. There are 18 streets which may have been impacted by the flushing.
They are:
- Brown Avenue
- Ridgedale Avenue
- Gephart Avenue
- Fayette Street
- Washington Street
- Camden Avenue
- The Dingle
- Braddock Road
- Maryland Avenue starting at E. Oldtown Rd to Williams Street
- Dorn Avenue
- Byrd Avenue
- Auburn Avenue
- Williams Street
- Avondale Avenue
- Greenway Avenue
- Memorial Avenue
- White Avenue
- Winifred Road
In a Cumberland city news release the municipality stated the water discharge in homes during the process may be discolored. They indicated the discoloration is not dangerous, but may complicate doing laundry. It was advised that homeowners run both hot and cold taps until the discoloration clears the pipes.
