The Juliet Lloyd Trio is scheduled for Gallery Stage in Cumberland on July 11. A ticket for $20 will gain you entrance to see and hear the talented group, who can regale you with covers, but really comes to life when they share their original work.

The punchy, poppy, youthful luxurious rendition of their original “Over You”, tells a surprisingly upbeat take on a romantic breakup. Some have compared Lloyd to Carol King, but she also shows a more whimsical style of songwriting, perhaps reminiscent of a Lisa Loeb or Avril Lavigne. Other songs lean more poetic and angst-imbued, with bluesy tones.

The trio definitely offers a weekend respite from everyday summer obligations, and a nice way to celebrate the weekend in Western Maryland.

Gallery Stage offers a close-up encounter with the work of artists in right off Cumberland, Maryland’s emergent downtown Baltimore Street. It is within the Ferleman Gallery on North Centre Street, a refuge of later 20th Century visual art.
